Veiled Prejudice
We deliver interactive awareness raising and myth busting sessions around topics such as the veil in Islam, giving people a chance to learn about and ask questions about important topics in our communities.
Awareness Raising Sessions

Kirklees Faiths Forum provides a ‘safe space’ to look at and discuss the Islamic face veil.
Participants will learn about the different forms of Islamic veil before breaking into groups to discuss themes such as why women wear the veil and whether it is compatible with British society.
Women from the local Muslim community then join the session to talk about their choice to wear or not wear the veil, and participants are invited to ask them questions and engage in discussion.
Open discussion and debate is welcomed and participants are encouraged to ask questions freely. The aim of the session is to increase awareness, challenge stereotypes and develop understanding of the veil and the women who choose to wear it.
Sessions are available for community groups, professionals, parents, teachers and other groups. Please contact us for more information and booking.
